A Reflection on Community-Based Research Impossible is only for people who don't try. This statement has become my bestfriend and motivation ever since i discovered research. Research is like one of my mortal enemy, but what can I do? It's part of our life and the only thing I can think of to do is to accept it. Accepting it as part of my life is maybe the biggest good decision I've ever made because suddenly, it became easier for me. This particular branch of study is really challenging and mentally exhausting because it takes a lot of effort and knowledge to accomplish it. But, remember that you can do anything. You can be everything. As long as you believe in yourself and work hard. Our lesson in Third Quarter was focused on Community-based research. It is a methodological practice that places community partnerships at the forefront. I have learned that a community-based project covers a wide variety of different areas within a community or a group of network entities. Also, projects can cover almost anything, including the most obvious section of concern to any community, the welfare element. Another important sector of importance to the community would be charity. Furthermore, all community research is different in some way; the size and scope of these projects are determined firstly by the community they cater to. Moreover, there are so many benefits that this study taught me. First, it can enable academic researchers to increase the validity within the study by improving accuracy of measurements, conduct research that can be implemented in partnership with the studied communities as well as designing meaningful and effective community interventions that are culturally and linguistically appropriate for communities. Not only that, It can also enable community organization to ask questions that are meaningful to their community members, Develop and evaluate effective programs for their clients, Demonstrate effectiveness of their programs for future funding opportunities, and lastly to Increase the legitimacy of their work among funders, policy-makers and other stakeholders. During my work, I've encounter some difficulties such as having a hard time understanding the module, no time management, and lack of motivation. This challenges becomes more harder when the subject itself is also extremely tough. It's pretty exhausting and stressful to be honest, but i have my family and friends, as well as my teachers that always there to make me understand the lessons and to keep me motivated. I really worked hard and try to do my best to cope up. I really think that this module became a roller coster to me. Many hurricanes and storms came along my way, but as they say, there's a rainbow after rain. Moving on, I would love to learn more and look forward to the things that the cultivation can offer. I really enjoyed studying despite the hardness and stress that it gives me. I feel like I've gotten richer because of the amount of knowledge that it has taught me. Hence, i learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he conquers that fear- Nelson Mandela.
