My Reflection for Quarter I in ICT

To begin with, we begun discussing about the internet timeline. In this topic, I learned the history of internet and the people behind the development of it. The internet is first conceived in the early ‘60s under the leadership of the Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Project Agency. Within 1970s, the email was born. Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis from Duke University, and Steve Bellovin at the University of North Carolina established the fist USENET newsgroups. Furthermore, in the 1980s, a new host is added approximately once every 20 days. Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf are key members of a team which creates TCP/IP, the common languages of all internet computers in 1983 and Domain Name System was introduced after that year. By 1988-1990 Internet worm unleased and “hackers”, or “cracker” are created. After that, the World Wide Web is born and in 1997 the Age of the Internet has Arrived. For the second week, I study the different internet services and tools, definitions of Web browser and Web Server, and the types of data found on the internet. In Internet Services and Tools, we have the electronic mall (e-mail), Discussion groups or “Newsgroups”, Long-distance Computing, Information Publishing and Research, The WAIS, World wide web, and lastly the internet voice. Web browser is application that allows users to view document within hypertext content. In the other hand, Web Server is a computer that respond to requests from web browsers. The different data types are Text file, Graphic files such as GIF, JPEG, BMP and Multimedia. In the third week, I discovered the Identification of Web logs/Blogs, the different types of blogs and the steps on how to create a web Log/Blogs. After this week, i make use of the blog account to describe it parts, enumerate the format on how to describe its part, create a lint to connect the personal blog post to the ICT class blogs, and applying themes and personal design in Blog Post. In the fifth week, I learned on how the World Wide Web works, the parts of Web browser, and the Domain Name System. The following week is about Mining the Internet, I found out the definitions of Search Engines, Descriptions and Comparison of the search Terms and applying search terms in doing web Research. In week seven, it was all about Internet Access. I learned the definition of Internet Access, descriptions, and comparison of access technologies, exploring the latest internet access available, and the importance of learning the internet access. Internet access is the means by which individual terminals, computers, mobile devices, and local area network are connected to the global internet. Access technologies generally use modem, which converts digital data to analog for transmission over analog network such as the telephone and cable networks.  To add more, Local Area Network provide internet access to computers and other devices in limited area. There are several kinds of LANs such as Dial-up access, Broadband access, Multilink Dial up, ISDN, Leased lines, Cable internet access, and the Digital subscriber line. Moreover, Wireless Broadband Access is used to provide both fixed and mobile internet access. Wi-fi is the popular name for a “Wireless local area network” that uses one of the IEEE 802.11 standards. Individual homes and businesses often use Wi-fi to connect laptop and smart phones the internet. And for the last week, studied the Data Rate Units and its description, enumerating the Internet connection bandwidth. The Data Rate Units is the average number of bits, character or symbol, or data block per unit time passing through a communication link in a data-transmission system. Data transfer Rate is measured as multiples of units’ bits per second (bit/s) or as bytes per second (B/s). In addition, bandwidth describes the maximum data transfer rate of network or internet connections. Lastly, it is also referring to a range of frequencies used to transmit a signal and this type of bandwidth id measured in hertz and often referenced in signal processing application. There are just some struggling part of this whole quarter, and overall, I can say that  its not that hard compare to the other subjects. Not only that ,I will do my best to make my parents proud. This pandemic wont stop me from achieving my goals and dream for myself and family. Let's all pray to god that this whole COVID-19 will soon disappear so that all of us will reunite all over again.

  1. Hi there! I really appreciate, what you have said and written in your blog. The messages that you want to emphasize are clear and it really made me inspired. Despite, the fact that some of our subjects are really hard, but we made our very best to do and accomplished them. First quarter is really great challenge that we have surpassed.
